To measure the hair length on a mannequin head, always measure from the crown (top of the head) to the very ends of the hair.
Step-by-Step:
- Start at the crown
This is the highest point on the top of the mannequin’s head (shown at the parting in the image). - Measure straight down
Let the hair fall naturally and measure straight down the longest strand. - Go to the very ends
Measure all the way to the tips of the hair — do not stretch or pull the hair. - Use the longest section
Mannequin hair is layered, so always measure the longest piece for the correct length.
👉 Example:
If the measurement from the crown to the ends is between 28–30 inches, the mannequin is listed as 28–30” hair length.
- Detangle gently, starting from the ends and working upward
- Wash only when needed using mild, non-alkaline shampoo
- Use lukewarm water — never hot
- Apply conditioner lightly from mid-length to ends only
- Air dry completely before styling or storing
- Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and humidity
